First, a quick apology. Since this is my first time attempting to publish, I should’ve realized there would be glitches. The first one popped up yesterday on launch day. If you tried to find my books on Amazon, you already know something went wrong. I’m using an aggregator (a company that distributes my books to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iBooks, and all the other channels) to upload my books. The company can preload to every channel but Amazon. That means the files didn’t get sent to Amazon until shortly after midnight on August 16th. The problem (and I just learned this) is that it takes 24-48 hours for the books to show on Amazon after they’re uploaded. Fortunately, mine fell into the 24 hour period. They’re now available on Amazon, just a day later than I expected.
One more small glitch: Although you can find both the ebook and paperback versions on Amazon, they won’t be merged into a single page that shows BOTH versions for two days to two weeks. Again, I’m hoping my books will fall into the shorter time period, but only time will tell.
For now, the easiest way to find my books there is to do a search for “d bruce cotton” (minus the quote marks) in the main Amazon search bar. If you select Kindle eBooks in the search dropdown first, only the paperbacks will show up. At the bottom of the book list, you’ll see “Results for d bruce cotton in All Departments (See all 118 results).” Click on that link and all versions will show up.
Again, my apologies if you searched for the books yesterday and couldn’t find them. I’ve learned a few lessons through this process, so future launches should go smoother. Thanks, everyone!
